AHAS offers free comprehensive hearing services and hearing aids to eligible Pensioners & Veterans. For those who are eligible, please see eligibility section below. Once you have confirmed your eligibility, you can apply for a voucher.

You can get an application form from your GP, health centre, or at AHAS Hearing Aid Services. If you are applying for a voucher for the first time, a doctor must complete a section of the form.

The services are free apart from a small annual fee for batteries and maintenance. A wide range of high-quality hearing devices are free. However, our clients can choose to contribute towards the a superior technology device which may be better suited to them, and which generally are equipped with more features.


eligibility

Must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident, and 26 years of age or older, and fit into one of the following categories:

  • Pensioner Concession Card holders
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Repatriation Health Card holders
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs White Repatriation Health Card holders specifying hearing loss
  • Recipients of a sickness allowance from Centrelink.
